Darwin: The Five Ws

Some of you will remember Joseph and Drew from the presentation they gave on evolution last year. They are back this year to celebrate Darwin Day by talking about Darwin's life. Theirtalk, "Darwin: The Five Ws", will address the "Who, What, Where, When, Why and How" of Charles Darwin, his journey, writings, and contributions.

Joseph Peacock is a student at UNLV who is currently completing a degree in biology. He is an undergraduate research assistant in an environmental microbiology lab at UNLV, characterizing the ecology of hot springs communities and working to identify organisms and enzymes that may be used to break down cellulose in next-generation biofuel systems. Along with Drew Pruitt, he has debated against creationists and presented the arguments for acceptance of evolution to diverse audiences.

Drew Pruitt, while working on his Mater's in Education, served as President then Public Events Officer of the Secular Student Alliance at UNLV. He taught biology at Desert Oasis High School, and, with Joe, participated in two evolution/creationism debates at a local Four Square Church.
